TALK 01 – TEACHING TALKS
BRITTNEY’S UP A TREE
My career in teaching
Since an early age, I had decided that I wanted to be a teacher. This talk will follow my route as a 6 year old playing with soft toys in an imaginary class through to being a Head Teacher.
I taught in 5 different schools all within the Bradford District and most of them would be termed ‘challenging’, but that often means rewarding and having a sense of satisfaction. My journey would not be described as ‘easy’ but the best things in life rarely are!
Pupils are the ‘core’ of your work and amusing anecdotes will feature throughout the talk. I am not going to use educational jargon and not going to discuss staff whom I worked with! Hopefully, this talk will give you a bit of an insight of what life was like for a teacher from mid-1970s until 2007.
